I became interested in photography at an early age but began to look at it as an art form in my last year of high school. I never took any formal arts courses but read everything I could lay my hands on and joined several camera groups over the years. I continued photographing what interested me during my career as a chemist but when I retired decided to more deeply engage in the arts.
My favorite subjects are nature and children, perhaps because of the similar sense of discovery I feel when photographing both of these subjects. Extreme patience is sometimes required but almost always rewarded. I hope to convey through my photographs some part of the wonder, discovery and sometimes sheer joy I feel while taking them.
